Mid-Century or Americana?

Thats what I asked when needing to decide on a category for listing in My shop. The answer, of course, is BOTH!
The Shirley Temple Doll was manufactured by Ideal Novelty & Toy Company between 1958 - 1962.
She was one of the most popular dolls of her time. This doll (Ideal Doll / ST-12)  meaning, Shirley Temple- 12" tall, is worth quite a bit ($100.00 +) if she had all original clothing, including shoes and in "un-played with" condition.

I was attracted to this doll originally, because she has "sleep eyes" - the ones that shut when you lay them down. It reminded me of a doll I had once owned. The clothes were original and she just a vintage find!
As you can see, this Shirley Temple Doll has played with lots of friends and has enjoyed her life very much. For a "collector", this makes her less valued. But for those that appreciate life's experiences, that only makes us identify with that which we have in common. I think she doesn't regret a thing and would do it all over again! A life well lived is envied by those "un-played".
